  • Standards (Uprights): Vertical tubes that serve as the main support for the scaffold. They are placed at intervals along the length of the scaffold.
  • Ledgers: Horizontal tubes that connect the standards horizontally, providing lateral stability to the scaffold structure.
  • Transoms: Horizontal tubes placed at right angles to the ledgers, supporting the scaffold boards or platforms.
  • Scaffold Boards (Planks): The platforms where workers stand or place their materials. They are typically made of wood, aluminum, or steel.
  • Guardrails: Railings installed along the edges of the scaffold platforms to prevent falls. They consist of top rails, mid-rails, and toe boards.
  • Toe Boards: Horizontal barriers placed along the edge of the scaffold platforms to prevent tools, materials, or debris from falling off. Braces: Diagonal or cross-sectional tubes that provide additional stability to the scaffold structure, usually installed diagonally between standards and ledgers. Base Plates: Plates placed under the standards to distribute the load and provide stability, especially on uneven surfaces.
  • Couplers: Connectors used to join scaffold tubes together securely. They come in various types, such as right-angle couplers, swivel couplers, and sleeve couplers.
  • Tie Bars: Horizontal or diagonal bars used to tie the scaffold to the building or structure, providing additional stability and preventing movement.
  • Access Ladders and Staircases: Provide safe access to higher levels of the scaffold. Ladders should be securely attached and extend above the scaffold platform.
  • Hoists and Pulleys: Used for lifting materials and equipment to higher levels of the scaffold safely. They should be properly installed and regularly inspected. Understanding the function and proper installation of these scaffold parts is essential for ensuring the safety of workers and the stability of the scaffold structure.
